Watching recent election cycles, the events that unfolded last year, and Q Anon in Dallas waiting for JFK to rise up it occurred to me that a lot of people expect the person they are focused on to fix whatever they deem is wrong in their life. A savior, so to speak. Their expectations never bear fruit.
Jesus said about the fig tree that did not bear fruit, "Cut it down". He was telling his listeners to stop waiting for the tree to feed them. Go out and feed yourselves.
We all want someone to help us solve our problems. The temptation is to hand it all over to the other and let them do the repair. By doing that we turn our sight inward and start focusing on what we are owed. We move into a downward spiral focusing more attention on ourselves and losing sight of others.
